DG Diane's New Year Message

Happy New Year One and All.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, celebrating with Family and Friends. It’s amazing how fast time flies. We have half the Lions Year completed already. Lion Mike and I have visited 13 Clubs so far and will be extremely busy in the next few months. I would like to once again thank the clubs we have visited for the generosity shown to us. It’s been a great pleasure meeting Club Members and seeing the activities & programs that you are offering in your Communities. It brings quite a feeling of Pride.

Our Membership stands at 1197 at this time, we have added 64 new Members and dropped 66, which included deceased Members. Congratulations to clubs that have added new members. I encourage all to continue to actively seek out new Members and also to please remember our current members. It seems that retention of members is a problem. We must keep our Members active within our Clubs, we must all work as a team. Remember International President Naresh Aggarwal‘s Theme “WE SERVE” and the “POWER OF WE”, Using the Power of Action and the Power of Service, together we can do so much.

December and January are relieving the Hunger Centennial Service Challenge Months. Take action and organize projects that mobilize club members. Visit a food bank, plan a food drive, participate in school breakfast programs, and remember to report all projects on MYLCI. Remember our Five Service Areas: Diabetes, Environment, Hunger Relief, Pediatric Cancer and Vision.

We wish all Clubs continued success in the coming New Year.

DG Diane

Portugal Cove - St. Philip's Lions donate hearing ear dog

LFC hearing ear dog Gladys recently graduated from the school with Mira Beaton from Marion Bridge, Cape Breton. Sponsored by the Portugal Cove - St. Philip's Lions Club, Gladys is named after Lion Gladys Churchill who was a long time PC-SP Lions member and a fixture at conventions.
Mira says "I would like to thank you for sponsoring her. She is wonderful and has given me so much independence.  Her name is great and suits her perfectly....Thank you again from the bottom of mine and Gladys heart."
Fellow Lions think of the impact that Gladys will have on Mira's life...give to LFC today!
