DG February 2018

Hello Fellow Lions

What an outstanding week-end was had by all at the Convention in St. John’s. I cannot remember ever having so many Lions turn out. Congratulations to Lion Danny, Convention Chair and all the Members of the Waterford Valley Lions Club. The club had all members participate with the convention. I thank you all! It just go to show what can be accomplished when using the” POWER of We” and work as a team. We had all of the Chairpersons who attended give reports. Wonderful!  The presentations given were exceptional. I would also like to thank the new Chair Committees, Hunger and Pediatric Cancer for the outstanding job for the District. I was so proud. Thank-You to all who attended and participated.

I cannot believe that we are into February month already .We have visited 19 clubs to date and have a very busy schedule in the coming months. Lion Mike and I look forward to meeting more members. I have inducted several new Lions this year and from what I understand, many more to join our District. Our current membership is 1192, down 7 members, we have lost 10 Lions through death, my condolences to the families of these Lions, Inducted 88 new Members and lost 82 Members. As we have said in the past, our problem seem to be retention of Members, our GMT and GLT are working hard to try and help clubs with Membership and or leadership problems.

In the next few months, I hope that all clubs please remember to use the MyLCI and submit your activity reports in addition to your membership reports. We must let LCI know what we are doing. Remember to Report, Report, Report!

During February it is a good idea to think about who will lead your club for next year. Nominations and Elections will soon be here, so give some thought to sounding out some candidates and giving them the information they need to allow them to make a positive decision and ultimately, a positive contribution to your club.  I was extremely pleased to have 8 Lions nominated for District positions at the Convention. If you are considering running for a District position please have your nomination in 40 days before the Elections on April 14th.

Thank You all for your service and dedication Lions.
